- Visiting Artist Exhibit: Sean Mullins
We’re honored to welcome Sean Mullins as a Visiting Artist at the Gateway Art Gallery this February. Sean is a Florida-based oil painter whose work demonstrates a strong command of light, color, and composition. He is also well known in our region as an instructor, having taught workshops in Melrose and throughout North Florida that support artists in developing confidence and clarity in oil painting. Just last week, Sean taught an oil painting workshop at the Gallery that was met with great enthusiasm. Students had a wonderful time, and we’re excited to share that he’ll be returning in June to teach another one!
Sean’s exhibit will be on display for six weeks, opening in February and running into mid-March. The show features a selection of his oil paintings and offers visitors a chance to spend time with work that balances technical strength with a thoughtful use of light and atmosphere.
The opening reception coincides with the city’s Sweets in the Streets event, making it a great evening to be downtown. We’ll also be participating in a mini artist walk, and Sean will be one of the featured artists where visitors can stop in, view the exhibit, and collect a stamp as part of their tour.
We invite the community to join us for the opening reception and to visit the Gallery throughout the exhibit to experience Sean Mullins’ work in person.

Have an idea for a Feature?
Our Featured Exhibition/Visiting Artist program aims to bring attention to outside Artists and their work and introduce them to our community. These exhibits are on display for a set amount of time (typically 1 month-6 weeks) and may feature work available for purchase to collectors and art lovers for the duration. May also include meet-and-greet sessions with the artist, book signings for authors, workshops for teaching artists, lectures and panel discussions, etc.
To be considered:
- Visiting Artists must have an active following and verifiable sale or gallery exhibition history (awards and history of continued art education are a bonus.)
- Visiting Artist (or exhibition coordinator) must live within reasonable driving distance of the Gallery for art drop-off/pick up and various promotional events related to the exhibit
- Visiting Artist (or exhibition coordinator) will promote the exhibit and related events on social channels and website to encourage their collectors and fans to attend the exhibition and buy their work
- (optional) Visiting Artist is able to teach a workshop or provide a lecture/demo in conjunction with their Feature
We host various other events at the Gallery throughout the year, so we only host a few Visiting Artists annually. If you meet the criteria above and wish to be considered for this program, or if you have an idea for an exhibition that isn’t necessarily your work, please complete and submit the application form below.
