We had such a great group of kids at this year’s Young da Vinci Art Camp — twenty campers, ages 6 to 10, filled the Gallery with creativity, energy, and laughter. Throughout the week, the kids explored a variety of projects:
- Sculpting and experimenting with different textures
- Creating unique and colorful paintings and picture frames with shaving cream and acrylics
- Designing an abstract woven piece of art that showed off their imagination
They were excited to learn new things and took pride in their finished work. Each camper decorated an index card with the things they love about Gallery, and there were plenty of answers! During a fun game, they also listed things they like and don’t like—spiders earned a unanimous “no” vote. Above all, the kids shared a love for drawing and were wonderfully expressive in every activity.
This special week was made possible by our generous sponsor, Joey Knapp, at Pinnacle Autosound and our dedicated instructors Shirley Zecher, Brenda Kennedy, and Jeanne Van Arsdall. We’re also grateful to our amazing assistants — Mary McGuerty, Jerilyn Guiss, Sandy Glover, and Nancy Turner — who helped guide the young artists throughout the week.
As Picasso once said, “All children are artists.” We couldn’t agree more. Please keep encouraging the children in your life to love art — and stop by the Gallery soon to see what all the excitement is about.
