Mikael Byrd is a Lake City native and full-time artist with a BA in Studio Art from Florida State University. She is the founder of The Greenwood Vale art studio, where she creates multi-media works with a strong focus on sculpture and abstraction.
Her work centers on the representation of emotion, using form, texture, and movement to give shape to feelings that are often difficult to put into words. Deeply inspired by Celtic mythology, Mikael draws from its rich symbolism and timeless stories to infuse her art with layers of meaning and narrative.
In addition to her studio practice, Mikael shares her passion for the arts as an instructor at the Gateway Art Gallery, where she teaches hand-building clay classes and leads Creative Recovery, a course designed to help artists reconnect with their creativity. Whether in her own work or in the classroom, she is guided by an exploration of how myth, memory, and emotion intersect—inviting others to discover new ways of seeing and feeling through art.
