Sheila Carr is not only the Curator here at the Gallery, she is also an artist who dabbles in many mediums, as well as an amateur composer of pieces for piano and chamber ensembles. In her “spare” time, she enjoys cooking, especially Thai- and Indian-inspired cuisine, and hanging out in her backyard with her chickens.
Sheila’s passion for art intersects her passion for people and community engagement here at the Gateway Art Gallery. She has a diverse creative background, having been a professional photographer and web/graphic designer for over 20 years, and her knowledge and experience in these areas are frequently called upon in her work as our Curator.
Sheila teaches digital painting, cyanotype, and various craft classes for adults as well as the kids in our Youth Art League.
