Annual Ornament Decorating Contest

Each year, the Gateway Art Gallery invites the community to join in an Ornament Decorating Contest — a holiday tradition that brings out creativity and festive spirit for all ages.

Participants can pick up a blank ornament (or two or three) at the Gallery and decorate it in any style or theme they choose, or they may choose to participate in our chosen theme (if any) for the year. Finished ornaments may be displayed throughout the season for visitors to enjoy or taken home at the end of the contest. Open to all ages and skill levels. Prizes are awarded for the top entries in Youth & Adult, and a special prize basket is awarded for Most Inventive. Select ornaments may even be featured in local holiday displays if desired.

This year, we’re proud to partner with the Lake City/Columbia County Historical Museum, donating select decorated ornaments to their Christmas Tree/Wreath Silent Auction Fundraiser. It’s a fun, creative way to celebrate the season while supporting TWO great causes! Swing by the Gallery to pick up your ornament blank for just $2 and be part of this community-favorite contest.

• Drop-off deadline: November 20
• Winners announced: November 21

Rules:

• $2 entry fee per ornament. Open to all ages. No limit to number of entries.
• Categories: Adult, Youth
• Any medium or safe materials may be used.
• Must be secure and able to hang from a loop.
• Pick-up date: DEC 30th (unless donating to the museum fundraiser)
