At our February ’23 ALNF Membership Meeting, we had a great turnout and a delicious spread provided by Frankie’s Place, with desserts by some of our wonderful volunteers. One of the highlights was the presentation by Gateway Art Gallery artist Benny Ragland on the art of stippling. Benny explained the history of stippling, the differences between stippling and pointillism, and showed us examples from historical painters as well as from his own body of work. He also walked us through the process of creating works with ink, giving us an insight into the supplies and techniques he uses.
We also got to meet our March Featured Artist, Teddy Pruett, and got a preview of her “Lullabies on Linen” quilt collection, which will be on view throughout the month of March. Be sure to join us at the Gallery opening reception on Friday at 5pm to meet Teddy, chat with her about her new book, and have a great time!
Finally, we would like to extend our warm welcome to our newly elected ALNF Membership Chairperson/Board Member, Susan Kroh! We look forward to working with her over the course of the year to bring our members more fun events and activities.
All in all, it was an excellent day and we hope to see everyone at the next membership luncheon!
