Speaker Bio:

Benjamin Ragland, a lifelong admirer of and expert on Vincent van Gogh, has studied the artist’s life in depth, particularly through multiple readings of Letters to Theo, which has provided him with a profound understanding of Van Gogh’s thoughts, struggles, and creative processes. His passion for Van Gogh’s work is reflected in his meticulous recreations of the artist’s most famous pieces, among them The Starry Night and several of the artist’s self portraits. Benny’s deep connection to Van Gogh’s art complements his formal training—having earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Arts and Design from Virginia Commonwealth University, he went on to build a successful career as a commercial artist, seamlessly blending his technical skills with his love for fine art. Today, his work, reflecting both his passion and expertise, can be seen and admired at the Gateway Art Gallery.
